- Why BLK Sheep Perfumery?
BLK Sheep Perfumery is a fragrance brand that promotes individuality and uniqueness.

- What is Eau de Parfum?
Eau de Parfum is the middle ground between Parfum and Eau de Toilette. Parfum has a concentration of 20-40% fragrance with a composition which is heavier in the heart/middle and base notes making it intense and very long lasting. Parfum is more suitable for night time and special occasions lasting 8+ hours.
Eau de Parfum has a 15-20% concentration of fragrance with a composition showcasing middle/heart notes making it a richer more complex scent suitable for both day and night time and typically lasts 6-8+ hours.
Eau de Toilette which is much lighter and focuses on top and middle notes with a fragrance concentration of 10-15% lasting 4-6 hours.
- Are BLK Sheep Perfumery Eau de Parfums long lasting?
Yes! As they are Eau de Parfum with a 20% concentration of fragrance. They are long lasting by design PLUS we add a fragrance enhancer which is 100% biorenewable, biodegradable and biocompatible. The fragrance enhancer helps protect the volatile notes in the perfume so you can enjoy each stage of the perfume for longer.
- What makes the alcohol you use sustainable?
We use non-denatured alcohol. Our high quality alcohol is made in New Zealand and is produced using whey which is the natural by-product of pure, grass-fed milk.
- Where are your perfumes made?
Our fragrances are created for us in Auckland by a renowned perfumer. We collect the fragrance concentrate and take it to our atelier in Mangawhai, BLK Sheep Perfumery HQ. We then combine the fragrance concentrate with our sustainable, non denatured alcohol and fragrance enhancer. It is left to macerate before we hand fill and package into our finished product.
- What is a universal perfume?
Universal perfume is for anyone and everyone that wants to enjoy our scents. If you love it and feel amazing wearing it then it is right for you.
- Can I layer your perfumes?
Yes! What better way to explore your individuality by layering your scents to achieve something completely unique to you.
- What are perfume notes?
A perfumer sits in front of an organ which has many different bottles containing lots of different aromas which are called notes. These are divided into 3 sections.
Top notes which are the most volatile. These are smelled first when you apply a perfume. Generally top notes only last for around 5-15mins and tend to be citrus and lighter scents which evaporate quickly.
Middle/Heart notes are less volatile and tend to be floral, some spices, and herbs. These start to release once the top notes have started to fade. They are present for several hours.
Finally the base notes are the heaviest and last the longest. These are aromas like vanilla, sandalwood and tonka bean.
There are also fragrance families; Citrus, Floral, Spice, Green, Wood, Oriental, and Fruity to name a few. The combinations are endless.
- Are your perfumes dupes?
No, all of our fragrances are unique and designed by us.
- Do you test your perfumes on animals?
No, we would never test our products on our furry friends nor do we condone this. Animal testing for finished products and ingredients for cosmetics is illegal in New Zealand along with many other countries.
- Are BLK Sheep Perfumery Eau de Parfums skin safe?
Yes of course, all of our fragrances are made to strict IFRA standards and to the regulations set by EPA NZ.
FACT - Fragrances are highly regulated along with all personal care products. These products must be safe to use, when used as directed, when offered for sale.
- Do your perfumes contain synthetic ingredients?
Yes, our fragrances are a combination of both natural and synthetic ingredients. Synthetic doesn't equal bad nor does natural equal good.
Natural fragrance ingredients like essential oils are highly regulated as they may contain many allergens or components that are considered unsafe when used in certain concentrations.
Synthetic ingredients are often used to replace some natural fragrance materials due to their allergen content. Substitutes are also used when obtaining certain natural oils or resins is environmentally damaging or supply doesn't meet consumer demand.
There are many reasons and benefits to use either a natural or synthetic ingredient, we use high quality ingredients that will give the best result and performance in our perfumes.
